“After attending college, I decided to make a change and joined the U.S. Air Force as an active duty member. I was a Bioenvironmental Engineer during my time in the USAF, which entailed Occupational Health and Environmental Compliance. Duties included radon testing, exposure assessments to toxic chemicals, noise, radiation, and ergonomics. After retiring from the USAF I joined a consulting firm as a Program manager/Team Lead for Occupational Health/Safety and Environmental Compliance. Some of the interesting projects included Compliance Audits at Fortune 500 companies as well as State and Federal facilities. While the travel life as a consultant was exciting, the days spent on airplanes and nights in hotels eventually lost its luster. It was time for a change again so I partnered with my youngest son Cody, as we started our venture as home inspectors. We are now in our 7th year operating the inspection company full-time and I still enjoy the process of inspecting a home, as well as working with great real estate agents and home buying clients! In my spare time I enjoy sailing, boating, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.”
Carol Lewis– Business Administration Manager
“After High School, I attended a technical school for office management training. After Bill graduated from USAF basic training and his technical training, we were married and assigned to our first duty station at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, SD. Soon the first of our three children came along and I became a full-time mother, raising the boys until our youngest graduated from High School. I then started a new career in retail, working at some of the larger store chains and eventually working my way up to Assistant Store Manager at the local Kmart. When Bill and Cody started the home inspection business, they quickly learned they needed administrative help and I was in a position to join the team on a full time basis. You will often find me on inspections with Bill, helping out and keeping all the inspectors schedules in sync. I enjoy shopping, especially thrift stores and garage sales! I also enjoy sailing with Bill and the boys, gardening, and spending time at the lake.”

“Investing in real estate had always been a dream of mine, and as it started becoming reality in my early 20s, I found the inspection piece sometimes lacking. My inner entrepreneurial spirit saw an opportunity, and after tackling just about every type of repair, remodeling and renovation project under the sun, I knew I had formed a good foundation of knowledge and experience to deliver a valuable service to home buying clients. I saved some “seed money” diligently, waiting for the right business opportunity to come along, and finally bought into a national franchise system and launched the business with my dad. 5 years and over 1,500 inspections later, we launched our own independent business. What I discovered along the way: the rewarding feeling of providing a valuable service to my clients is just as important in business as the money. What began as “find a need, fill a need” has become a passion.
When I’m not inspecting: I proudly serve in the North Dakota Air National Guard as a member of the famed Happy Hooligans. In my free time I can usually be found fishing, sailing, boating, floating or SCUBA diving one of Minnesota’s pristine lakes or rivers. I also enjoy Minnesota Vikings and NDSU Bison football, Minnesota Wild hockey, traveling and the art and science of BBQ!”
